A little about me…

I’m very excited that you found your way to my website.

I’m passionate about many things, but the two themes of my interests are creativity and helping people. I grew up with a very artistic father who is a graphic designer and a loving mother who had a career as a nurse, and their personalities and careers have obviously influenced me.

I also grew up visiting half of my family in England every other year for a few weeks. Travelling overseas, even to another English speaking country, gave me a fascination with history, unique cultures and beautiful landscapes that were very different to my hometown of Houston, Texas.

Where did my passion for photography come from? Surprisingly, it started with my ears and not my eyes. I’ve lived with hearing loss for almost my entire life, starting when I was a boy. Surgery after surgery was needed to combat a middle ear disease that left me needing hearing aids in both ears.

Hearing loss brought me a profound appreciation for life and for the natural world. With sight being perhaps our most important sense next to hearing, it stands to reason that I would develop this sense even further.

Hearing loss has also driven me to help others, and like my mother I found supporting young people to be an especially rewarding endeavor. Being around kids also allows me to be my goofy and creative self on a daily basis. I am very proud to be a secondary teacher.

As I said, today I am passionate about a variety of hobbies, topics and activities, some of which include reading, journaling, photography, videography, interior design, hiking, European history, personal development, hearing loss, soccer (go Arsenal!) and fashion. I’ve lived in the greater Seattle area in beautiful Washington state for the past 6 years with my wife, Hannah. On the homepage of this website I share what I’ve been up to most recently.

It’s great to have you here.
